About St Matthew’s Presents...

Working in partnership with the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival 2017 and generously supported by Paisley 2021 'St Matthew's Presents' is a Nouveau arts experience designed to increase cultural capacity, develop new audiences and expand the use of St Matthew's current facilities.

We hope that this presentation of high quality arts programmes will develop creative direction for those connected and associated with St Matthew's, as well as allow increased access to local residents and positively contribute to the overall vision of Paisley 2021.

October 19th: Silent Night Competition
6pm - 7pm / £2.50 / Family Friendly
As part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival (SMHAFF) 2017, St Matthew’s is looking for established and amateur film-makers to ‘Reclaim’ the art of Silent Film.

We are looking for creative interpretations of what a Silent Film is in the 21st Century, in any genre. We are offering film makers the opportunity to have live accompaniment improvised by Donald Mackenzie, House Organist to the Odeon Cinema, Leicester Square, as well as the opportunity to be screened as part of St Matthew’s Presents ‘Silent Night’ in Paisley. All entries will be curated and selected by an independent specialist panel. The winner of the Silent Night Competition will receive a cash prize of £250 and 2 runner ups will receive a prize of £100.

A silent film is a film with no synchronised recorded sound, no spoken dialogue, and is generally accompanied by live music. The silent film era lasted from 1895 to 1936, and it is believed around 70% of Silent Films have been lost since this time.

Film entries will be:
No longer than 5 minutes
Produced in Scotland
Contain no dialogue.

Deadlines:
All Enties must be received by 28 September 2017
The Screening will be the 19th October, St Matthews Church, Paisley, PA1 1XL
Please note this is for submission of films only, to attend the event please see St Matthew's Presents... Silent Night
