THE team at Cardwell Garden Centre certainly know their onions when it comes to putting on a fun event for all the family.
They’ve organised some great activities for all ages as part of the Strathclyde Leek and Onion Show that’s being hosted at the garden centre, this weekend.
So, if you want something to do with the kids, between 11am and 4pm on Saturday and Sunday October 1 and 2, leek no further than Cardwell.
And along with being amazed at seeing some of the country’s biggest vegetables on display, there will be games like Hoopla, Hook A Duck and Feed The Clown for everyone to take part in.
There will also be a barbeque, bouncy castle, face painting, a Spooky Treasure Hunt and a fairground carousel.
Throughout the weekend a DJ will be playing everyone’s favourite tunes and on Saturday the Clydeside Singers will be performing. The Royal National Lifeboat Institution will also have a stall at Cardwell.
The Strathclyde Leek and Onion Show makes a welcome return after two years due to the Covid restrictions. Hundreds of entries from all over Scotland are expected for the horticultural extravaganza with some of the leeks on show up to three feet high.
And with free entry, crowds are expected to turn up to marvel at the enormous onions, colossal leeks and king-sized carrots among other vegetables, like potatoes, cauliflowers and beetroot that will be on show.
Green-fingered gardeners will have carefully nurtured their vegetables over the past nine months for the big day at Cardwell.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
