Saporito – which runs four venues in the town centre – has teamed up with Italian brewing company Birra Moretti to back this year’s Spree, which takes place 14 - 22 October.
The nine-day event sees a top-notch bill of music, comedy, drama and more at various venues across the town, including a specially-erected Spiegeltent in County Square.
And this year’s event will carry extra flavour with Saporito running five pop-up bars in the town centre during the festival week.
The Saporito/Birra Moretti bar tent will be in County Square, offering a bar and live music. Beside that there will be the Azzurro Street Cafe selling Italian coffee, crepes and Italian street food.
Saporito will also operate the bar within the Spiegeltent itself for all events as well as offering bar facilities for the Justin Currie/RSNO event in Paisley Abbey and the Paisley Town Hall gigs.
Saporito will host a number of events as one of the venues for the Spree for All fringe festival, which will run in tandem with the festival for the first time.
The Spree – now in its fifth year – is run by Renfrewshire Council and is taking place as part of the build-up to Paisley’s bid for UK City of Culture 2021.
Councillor Roy Glen, convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Economy and Jobs Policy Board, popped into Saporito High Street at 38 High Street, Paisley, to meet owners Gary McCaw and Craig Bickett.
Councillor Glen said: “The Spree festival has grown in size to become one of the key events in our cultural calendar. As the town moves towards its bid for UK City of Culture 2021, events like this will help cement Paisley’s status as a key destination on Scotland’s event map even further.
“I would like to thank everyone at Saporito for their sponsorship and I am sure the various activities they have planned will help create a real festival vibe in the town centre this October.”
Craig Bickett added: “One of the main things we want to do as a business is to promote Paisley – and that is why we were keen to get involved once again with The Spree, which is a great event to have here in the town.”
Highlights on this year’s Spree festival bill include performances from Admiral Fallow, Donnie Munro, Carol Laula, Treacherous Orchestra, Skerryvore and a Scottish Album of the Year Award showcase as well as two Best of Scottish Comedy nights run with The Stand comedy club.
There will also be a full week of children’s shows (many of them free) taking place during the October school holidays.
