The leading housebuilder has pledged £2,000 in support of the school’s theatre improvement group which is raising funds to transform its ageing 200-seat theatre back to its former glory.
Staff from Stewart Milne Homes’ local development at Gryffe Meadows visited the school where they were given a tour of the theatre and heard about the exciting plans that will transform the space once enjoyed not only by the school but also by the local community.
Maryln Boal, sales and marketing director at Stewart Milne Homes, said: “We are pleased to be supporting Gryffe High’s exciting theatre project which will see the refurbishment of a fantastic community space.
“A number of pupils are residents of Gryffe Meadows, so it is great to be able to contribute to the creation of a space to be enjoyed by the pupils and indeed the wider community. At Stewart Milne Homes we understand the importance of creating surroundings for people to enjoy and we look forward to seeing the finished project.”
Gordon Bell, committee member of the Gryffe High Theatre Improvement Group, said: “We are very grateful for the support from Stewart Milne Homes for our exciting theatre project. The space is a fantastic asset to the school and the local community and we are looking forward to renovating it thoroughly so that the theatre is a modern, comfortable and attractive facility for many years to come.
“We still have a way to go to secure sufficient funds, not only to replace all current seating in the theatre but also to upgrade the flooring, stage, lighting and equipment and our group is working hard to raise the final funds with a view to having all renovation work carried out during this year’s school summer holidays.”
Located in the charming conservation village of Houston and in the catchment area for Gryffe High School, Stewart Milne Homes’ Gryffe Meadows has been carefully designed to incorporate the very best of modern family living with an exclusive collection of 32 four and five bedroom detached family homes.
