Generous guests dug deep on Friday 1 December at the 24th annual Noel Lunch and all funds raised will go towards supporting the work of Quarriers’ Services. Guests heard moving and personal accounts of people supported at Quarriers Renfrewshire Head Injury Service.
This valuable service helps people aged between 17 and 64 who have an acquired head injury. The service works with those directly affected as well as their families and carers, providing practical and emotional support to help people to come to terms with their condition, as well as adapt to daily life with an acquired head injury.
Back by popular demand was comedian and TV personality, Fred MacAulay, who hosted the event at the Marriott Hotel and led the live auction which included the Ultimate Eden Mill Gin Experience at the distillery in St Andrews for 12 people and dinner, bed and breakfast for two at Cameron House in Loch Lomond.
Alice Harper, Quarriers’ Chief Executive, said: “Quarriers’ services will benefit so much thanks to the generosity of our guests including our sponsors Faxco, Samsung and Tunnocks. Every year, supporters of the charity humble us with their kindness at what is always an expensive time of year. Their selflessness will help to make a real difference to the lives of people we support.
“As always, a very special thanks must go to our guests, to Fred for keeping us laughing throughout the afternoon and to Phil Genoe of Faxco who topped up the total to £80,000. We thank Phil, along with the rest of the Noel Lunch committee, for their months of planning and organisation to ensure today is a success.”
Phil Genoe, Chairman of Quarriers’ Noel Lunch Committee said: “It’s been another magical afternoon and I’m always blown away by the generosity shown by our supporters who return every year to support the charity and begin their festive celebrations.”
Quarriers’ Noel Lunch is a longstanding festive fundraiser in the Glasgow social calendar and is the charity’s flagship annual event, raising awareness of its services and generating funds to ensure it can continue to provide support for those facing extremely challenging circumstances. Now in its 24th year, the Noel Lunch has so far raised in excess of £1.25 million. Next year’s Noel Lunch will take place on Friday, 7 December, 2018.
