On Sunday 16 June we’ll be trying to discover as many different creatures, plants and fungi that can be found on the reserve as we can, and your help would be welcomed!
We will have experts from a wide range of organisations on hand to help introduce you to wildlife and help you identify and discover what runs, swims, flies or simply grows here at our fantastic nature reserve. You can try your hand at pond dipping, have a go at bug hunting, try your skills at bird spotting or simply stroll along the trails looking for wildflowers. Kids can also play in our natural play area.
June is a fabulous time to explore our reserve. Many birds are rearing young, plants are in flower all along our fully accessible paths and the ponds are full of smaller creatures such as newts and dragonfly larva.
Our cosy visitor centre offers fantastic views of the reserve from our viewing windows and from the observation tower. Small garden birds can be watched at close quarters from the comfort of an easy chair and binoculars and telescopes are on hand to bring the wildlife closer. Why not sit back and relax in these beautiful surroundings with a tea, coffee or hot chocolate and a slice of locally sourced cakes or a sandwich? Alternatively, just browse in our well-stocked shop!
So why not unleash your inner explorer and discover the wildness on your doorstep with a trip to our beautiful nature reserve? Just a 30-minute train ride from Glasgow, RSPB Lochwinnoch is an easily accessible wilderness and a haven for both wildlife and people!
