You will learn how to use a sewing machine, learn a range of sewing techniques and understand how to use a basic pattern. This course is intended for complete beginners who have never used a sewing machine before. On this 4-week course you will have the opportunity to make four fabric items: face mask, cosmetic bag, tote bag and piped cushion. All materials and equipment are provided but if you have your own sewing kit you can bring it along.
It’s never too late to learn a new skill and using a machine is a lot easier than you might think.
You will learn how to:
Identify sewing machine parts and basic maintenance
Thread up a machine and fill a bobbin
Pin and cut out a basic pattern
Make seams (plain/French)
Insert a zip
Hem a raw edge
I have over 30 years sewing experience and workshops are run from my home in Elderslie.

Due to covid-19 I have had to make a few changes. Every measure has been taken to try and ensure your safety. Worshops are being run in much smaller groups than usual to allow adequate distance between each student. All equipment and surfaces are cleaned thoroughly before and after each workshop. Hand Sanitizers are placed at entrance and at each work station. Unfortunately, due to government guidelines I can’t offer any refreshments however you are more than welcome to bring your own.
Additional Dates: 17 October 2020
