In June of 1988 the West of Scotland’s first ever regular comedy venue had its opening gig.
In a small bar, in the west end of Paisley called Bar Point young fresh faced stand-ups performed their carefully prepared routines to a packed room every Saturday night. Among those emerging talents were some who would to go on to become some of the best known comedians around. Fred Macaulay, Janey Godley, Ed Byrne, Reginald D Hunter, Bill Baily, Craig Hill, Mitch Benn and Greg Hemphill all cut their teeth at the Joke Box as did Stu Who, Bruce Morton, Raymond Mearns and Parrot.
Now in conjunction with the Bungalow in Shuttle Street we bring back those heady days of laughter and mirth along with a double measure of sidesplittingly funny stories with “The Joke Box Returns”.
While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Fred MacAulay ‘The Joke Box Returns’ are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
