Her riveting talk reveals what women from one Chinese family went through during the last century. u3a members can choose to meet together from 1.45pm on Thursday 4 November in the Salvation Army Hall, Mill Street, Paisley. Alternatively, some can watch via a Zoom link from 2 - 3.30pm.
Chair Kathy O’Donnell commented: “We are often curious and fascinated by cultures so different from our own. In reading novels about China by Amy Tan or the Nobel Prize winner for literature, Mo Yan, we can explore the life and times of this part of Asia. Yet first-hand accounts of real people and their view of historical events also impact us too.”
Said guest speaker, Rosalind Holmes: “The last 100 years in China have been a time of huge changes and it's very interesting to compare our life experiences with the people living in China through those years.”
