For a nation of dog lovers, this month’s u3a speaker, Emma Hamilton, is a popular choice. As Regional Supporter Relations Manager with the Dogs Trust, Emma works in Glasgow and the surrounding areas. She’s going to share some canine stories and useful tips for pet owners from the UK’s leading dog welfare charity. The public are welcome to enjoy this free talk and ask questions on Thursday 2 June. Doors open 1.30pm for a 2pm start in the Salvation Army Hall, Mill Street, Paisley. Emma’s presentation can be viewed via a Zoom link from 2 – 3.30pm.
Said u3a chair, Kathy O’Donnell: “Research shows that a third of UK households in 2021-22, including Her Majesty The Queen, now own a dog. It was less than one in four households before the pandemic. They say man’s best friend is a dog, possibly as it is such a good family companion. Nearly two in three people across the country currently own a pet of some kind as caring for them helps our wellbeing. Our members are keen to hear the ideas Emma brings as we celebrate the Platinum Jubilee holiday together.”
Speaker, Emma Hamilton remarked: “I am very thankful for this opportunity to speak about the work of Dogs Trust. It’s the UK’s leading dog welfare charity caring for 14,000 dogs each year. We will delve into the history of the Dogs Trust (previously known as the Canine Defence League) and discuss current projects and campaigns for the UK.”
