18.30 - 19.25: The Glasgow Tango ten week absolute beginners course covers all the essentials to get you started on the dance floor. No need to come with a partner, however booking is essential as we do our best to balance the numbers learning each role. Everyone is invited to change partners at intervals during the class to help with the learning process. Courses begin every September, January and April. Email info@glasgowtango.org.uk to register.
Ten weeks can start a lifelong passion...
19.30 - 20.35: Level 2: Improvers. The improvers' programme builds on the basics learned at the beginners' classes. We introduce new figures and develop aspects of tango technique and musicality, including tango vals and milonga. Topics unfold over several terms and you can attend this class for as long as you find it useful.
20.30 - 21.25 Level 3: Intermediates. The intermediate level classes are for dancers with a good grasp of the fundamentals, who dance regularly and are looking for new challenges. The programme is a structured progression from the Improver level and new elements are introduced frequently.
Shona and Alistair have been sharing their love of tango with students since 2009. They are passionate about Argentine tango as an enjoyable and accessible social dance for all.
Classes are taken at a gentle pace and they will always find time to talk to you and support your dancing needs. Sessions are good humoured and sometimes quirky, but the focus is on detail and technique and getting results on the dance floor. As part of this, Shona makes extensive use of her study of tango techniques and style to provide clear explanations, while Alistair draws on his musical background, making the all important connections between the music and the dance.
