Imaginate is a unique organisation in Scotland, promoting, developing and celebrating the performing arts for children and young people.
It is our goal to ensure that children and young people in Scotland have regular access to high quality performing arts experiences. Our vision is driven by the belief that inspiring our young people is essential not only to their individual development but to the development of Scotland, its economy and its place in the world.
We strive to achieve this ambition through the delivery of an integrated programme of performance (including the world renowned Imaginate Festival), art-form development and creative learning as well as audience and policy development projects.
The Imaginate Festival and Tour presents high quality, distinctive Scottish and international performances to an audience of around 10,000 children and young people, their teachers, families and carers each year. The Imaginate Festival has established itself as one of the best places for programmers from all over the world to see children and young people’s work of the very highest standard. It has also become a place where artists meet, to see and discuss work and take part in professional development activities. Over the last three years, the Family Fringe has taken off. It gives artists and performers based in Scotland, the opportunity to create, perform and experiment with new ideas for family audiences. Fun packed and full of variety, the short performances take place in the Traverse bar café during the Festival.
