It can be difficult to keep the kids entertained during the long summer break, but thankfully Renfrewshire Arts & Museums Outreach Team are on hand to offer two boredom-busting workshops in the art of both Fashion Design and Animation at Paisley Museum.
Suitable for young fashionistas with an eye for style (no sewing skills required!), our ‘Passion for Fashion’ workshop will give budding designers the chance to make their own clothing from recycled materials, and emulate the likes of Vivienne Westwood and Versace by putting the famous Paisley Pattern back on the catwalk!
The children’s finished collection will then be showcased at their very own fashion show; complete with runway, music and film on Friday 2 August at 12pm. Designers’ family and friends will also be invited to attend this finale.
The ‘Passion for Fashion’ Workshop will run from Monday 29 July – Friday 2 August, 10am – 3pm (10am – 1.30pm on Friday) at Paisley Museum. Places cost £37.50 (£26.25 conc) each and this includes materials used. Suitable for ages 8 – 16. Participants should bring a packed lunch each day.
Our second summer workshop is ideal for cartoon and film fanatics hoping to make the next Despicable Me, Simpsons or Monsters Inc. Working with our award-winning outreach team, participants will learn to devise a story, create their own characters using Claymation and then animate the whole sequence, even adding voices and sound effects – and all in just 4 days!
The short films will then be screened at an exclusive premiere on Friday 9 August (1pm) to which family and friends are invited to attend. Plus all participants will receive a copy of their very own DVD to take home.
The ‘Let’s get Animated!’ Workshop will run from Tuesday 6 – Friday 9 August, 10am – 3pm (10am – 1.30pm on Friday) at Paisley Museum. Places cost £37.50 (£26.25 conc) each and the workshop is suitable for ages 8 – 16. Participants are asked to bring a packed lunch each day.
Places for both workshops can be booked by calling the Renfrewshire Arts & Museums Box Office on 0300 300 1210.
