Renfrew will shine brighter than ever this Saturday as the new Christmas lights are switched on for the first time!

The festivities in the town centre kick off at 12pm and there’s a sleigh-load of free family fun on offer to keep even the littlest elf entertained.
Renfrew Town Hall will be busy hosting free face painting, arts and crafts and storytelling with Santa’s elves until 4pm, and you can catch Clydebuilt Puppet Theatre’s performance of Jack and the Beanstalk at 12pm and 1pm.
Santa will be waiting in his grotto to hear what’s on your Christmas list this year – you can find him inside the Christian Fellowship Church until 4:30pm. Don’t forget to say hello to Rudolph and his friends!
Renfrewshire’s Provost Lorraine Cameron will host a carol service at 3pm inside the town hall, featuring your favourite Christmas classics played by Renfrew Burgh Band.
From 3pm-5pm, local performers will showcase their talents on the main stage – hosted by Pulse FM – before the big switch on.
There’s something for the thrill seekers too, with a funfair located in Charles Avenue car park until 6:30pm.
At 5pm, Provost Cameron will be joined by the winner of her annual Christmas card design competition – 9-year-old Ava from St Anne’s Primary School in Erskine – to turn on the lights and set off the spectacular fireworks display from the roof of the town hall.
Provost Cameron said: “We’re right in the heart of our winter events season and the Renfrew Christmas lights switch on is always a highlight.
“There’s fantastic entertainment on all afternoon – with carol singing, face painting, Santa’s reindeer and more, finishing with an unmissable fireworks display.
“I’d love to see you all there so come on down to Renfrew town centre on Saturday and start the festive season in style.”
