Parents and carers who are adult members of Renfrewshire Libraries can once again borrow two sets of toys at any one time for four weeks after the popular service had to be suspended due to Covid restrictions.
The online Toy Library has a wide range of toys available to borrow for youngsters up to the age of eight and children with additional support needs.
There are three categories of toys available to borrow and they are:
Read – a collection of books, puppets, story sacks and song and rhyme kits, which will enhance a child’s reading, experience and bring your favourite characters to life.
Discover – a range of toys to help youngsters explore the world around them including water play resources, space exploration, outdoor fun and much more.
Learn – kids can have fun learning to play new games, solve puzzles and develop new skills with this selection of learning toys.
Adults should log on to www.renfrewshirelibraries.co.uk to choose which toys to borrow and which local library they would like to pick them up from. Staff will let customers know when the toys chosen becomes available for collection.
Joyce Higgins is the Digital and Library Development Manager for OneRen – the local charitable trust providing cultural, leisure and sporting opportunities to help people enjoy active and healthy lives.
Joyce said: “Play is important to a child’s development and being able to borrow toys gives parents and carers the necessary tools to help with their development. And just as important, children will have lots of fun playing with the toys as well.
“The Toy Library was very popular before Covid restrictions forced us to suspend the service. But now we’re back, I’m sure the Toy Library will be even more popular with both children and adults.
“And if adults aren’t members of Renfrewshire Libraries, as they need to be to access the Toy Library, it’s very easy to join either online or by popping into one of our libraries.
“As a library member, you can browse the catalogue of toys and order what you want at home, or by going to your local library where staff can help you.”
