The line-up for the first Paisley Arts Festival has been announced - featuring a cultural celebration of fashion icon Pam Hogg led by her famous friends, the town’s musical journey from punk to Paolo Nutini and legendary sounds of Club 69.

TIckets for the three-day event - taking place from Friday March 27 until Sunday March 29 - go on sale tomorrow (Friday January 30). The full programme is available here.

Themed on The Sound of Paisley, it will celebrate the town’s world-renowned creativity and radical energy.

And the headline event of its opening night is one which combines both.
Trainspotting writer Irvine Welsh will lead a special tribute to his trailblazing and inspirational friend, the globally-renowned designer, musician and artist Pam Hogg.

Pam Hogg: Style, Defiance and the Art of Being Seen will be a reflective conversation on her life, legacy and cultural impact at Paisley Town Hall.
It will draw on the personal reflections from Irvine as well as those from guests from music, fashion and journalism, including Scottish model and actor, Eunice Olumide MBE.

The Saturday (March 28) will be headlined by Club 69 @ Paisley Arts Festival - from 5pm until 10.30pm.

It will highlight and celebrate the longstanding impact of Paisley’s legendary Club 69 nightclub, renowned for championing electronic music, hosting internationally-respected artists and supporting emerging talent from Scotland and beyond.

The Paisley Town Hall event - which will be followed by an intimate after-party at nearby Club 69 - will feature a carefully selected lineup of cutting-edge performers across house, techno and club-focused sound, including Melé, Optimo, Jaguar, Jasper James and Frankie Elyse.

And the Sunday (March 29) will be headlined by From Punk to Paolo, a live celebration of the town’s contemporary music story curated and hosted by BBC broadcaster Vic Galloway.

Also taking place in Paisley Town Hall, it will feature a 10-piece house band led by Joe Rattray of Admiral Fallow, with guest singers performing songs that reflect key eras and influences in Paisley and Scotland’s musical landscape.
Richard Jobson of The Skids, The Rezillos, King Creosote, Kathryn Joseph, Emma Pollock, C Duncan, kitti and others cover everything from Buzzcocks, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Elvis Costello and Echo & the Bunnymen.

Songs from Scottish favourite Altered Images, Orange Juice and Atzec Camera will also be performed alongside those made famous by Paisley performers such as Kelly Marie, Gerry Rafferty and Paolo Nutini.

A packed programme of other events will also take place, from an art exhibition, to an aerial dance theatre and a show which takes audiences time-travelling through Paisley.

As well as those at Paisley Town Hall, a number of shows will take place at Paisley Arts Centre.

The festival is organised by cultural and leisure charity OneRen, with support from Creative Scotland.

Councillor Lisa-Marie Hughes, Chair of OneRen, said: “We could not be happier with the line-up for the first-ever Paisley Arts Festival.
“This is a festival which will really get under the skin of Paisley as a music town, from which passion, creativity and energy has been felt across the world. It is a remarkable story to tell.”

Paisley Arts Festival is part of a vibrant programme of events in the town organised by OneRen, which also features Paisley Book Festival (May 15-17) and Paisley Comedy Festival (September 10-14). Line-ups for the book and comedy festivals will be announced in due course.

Full details about the Paisley Arts Festival line-up - including booking information - will be available at www.oneren.org/paf.

Tickets go on sale at 10am Friday (January 30th).
