The bespoke design, officially registered on the Scottish Register of Tartans, will make its public debut at the charity's major anniversary showcase at Paisley Town Hall on Saturday 7th February 2026.
The tartan was unveiled today – ahead of the landmark, sell out concert – worn by Director Grant McFarlane as a kilt, and as a bespoke dress by the evening’s host, acclaimed Gaelic singer and broadcaster Joy Dunlop.
The pair will show off the new designs on stage at the sold out event this weekend. More than 500 attendees will fill Paisley Town Hall to watch more than 150 performers from the last 10 years of the Fèis.
For those who didn’t manage to grab a ticket, or are based around the world, a free livestream will be available for viewers on YouTube via www.youtube.com/@feisphaislig
The concept for a commemorative tartan emerged from discussions with the charity’s young participants, who identified it as an imaginative way to mark the milestone. The design was brought to life through a partnership with Paisley-based Houston Kiltmakers, who generously supported the project in-kind.
Reflecting the vibrancy of the organisation, the tartan draws on Fèis Phàislig’s colours of a vibrant blue base, threaded with light blue, green, orange, and yellow, representing the energy, creativity, and community spirit that have defined the charity's work over the last decade.
Grant McFarlane, Director of Fèis Phàislig, said: “It’s a proud moment to unveil our commemorative Fèis Phàishlig tartan – the cloth is a lasting marker of our first decade and a way of contributing something new to Scottish tradition. It was important to us that this idea grew from our young people, as they are the heart of everything we do. The design reflects the energy and creativity at the heart of our work in Renfrewshire, and it will serve as a symbol of our identity as we move into the next ten years and beyond.”
The launch of the tartan adds another layer of celebration to next weekend’s 10th-anniversary event, which will see over 100 performers, including current learners, tutors and alumni, along with leading Scottish musicians, take to the stage.
The concert will feature special guests including Gary Innes and Ewen Henderson of Mànran, Gaelic singers Josie Duncan and Ellen MacDonald, alongside Fèis Phàislig tutors and musicians Ron Jappy, Chloë Bryce, Calum McIlroy, Seán Gray and founder and accordion player Grant McFarlane.
The event, which is supported by The National Lottery through Creative Scotland, will also see the premiere of a newly commissioned Gaelic song. Òran Fèis Phàislig, written especially for the occasion by acclaimed singer-songwriter Gillebrìde MacMillan, is a celebration of music, language and place, reflecting the charity’s journey so far and looking towards its future.
Since its launch in 2015, Fèis Phàislig (/feːʃ faːʃlɪgʲ/, pronounced faysh fash-lick) has grown from a single summer event into one of Scotland’s largest Fèis programmes, providing professional and accessible tuition in traditional music and song for young people.
The Fèis Phàislig 10th Anniversary Concert will take place on Saturday 7th February at Paisley Town Hall. People can watch the free global livestream at www.youtube.com/@feisphaislig
