After a successful event last year with The Masters Cup, Masters Football will be returning to Glasgow in showstopping fashion with the Scottish Masters Cup 2023.
The one-off tournament will be contested between Celtic, Rangers, Hearts and Hibs, taking place at the Braehead Arena, Glasgow on the 9th September. The event will feature a round robin format, with each match lasting 16 minutes across two halves.
Hosted across 15 arenas around the UK between the years of 2000-2011, Masters Football was considered the premier form of competition between footballing legends and is now making a hotly anticipated return.
A total of over 1,500 ex-pro footballers have played in The Masters series since its first competition back in 2000. This year, the tournament returns, with further footballing icons jumping at the chance to put their club’s colours on once again, playing in front of an expected crowd of up to 4,000, as well as a large streaming audience.
This year’s line-up includes ex-Rangers and Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd, Celtic legend Kris Commons, Andy Webster, who made over 200 appearances for Hearts, and many more!
Confirmed squads for The Scottish Masters Cup 2023 are:
Celtic Masters: Dorus Devries, Mark Wilson, Kelvin Wilson, Joe Ledley, Kris Commons, Simon Donnelly, Mark Burchill, Gary Hooper
Rangers Masters: Alan Hutton, Lee McCulloch, Barry Ferguson, Pedro Mendes, Kris Boyd, Kenny Miller
