On Saturday 21st October, Shopmobility in partnership with Paisley Darkside Historical Walking Tours is delivering a unique tour as part of Black History Month depicting the life of Peter Burnet.
About Peter Burnet Tour
Wheelchair and mobility scooter users welcome.
Depicting the life story of this fascinating man. The first African American to come to Paisley. He arrived via Virginia, New York, Glasgow, Kilmarnock and finally Paisley. Although born a free man he was acutely aware any minute he could be enslaved.
You'll find out about his time on a pirate ship. Life with Military Commanders, his move to Edinburgh when the weaving trade collapsed as well as marriages children and much more. It will end with a visit to his resting place.
1pm - Tour Commences at Tannahills Cottage, 11 Queen Street, Paisley PA1 2TT
2pm - Tour ends at Loud n Proud School of Rock 14 William Street Paisley PA1 2LZ
You are then invited to come into Loud n Proud School of Rock for a light lunch and refreshment and see the published video of Peter Burnett.
