On this Taster class you will be taken step by step through the basics of using a sewing machine. It is a good starting point if you have never used a machine before. You will complete a range of sewing machine exercises and finish by making your own sewing/makeup wrap. Class sizes are small (maximum of 4 students), so plenty of time to ask questions and go at your own pace. Using a sewing machine is a lot easier than you might think and can be very therapeutic. The mindfulness required to concentrate on specific tasks can help reduce anxiety and give you a sense of achievement.
You will learn how to:
• Thread up a machine and fill a bobbin.
• Practice sewing in a straight line, curves and pivoting round corners.
• Make plain and French seam samples.
• Pin and cut out a basic pattern.
• Make a small fabric item.
What to bring: All fabric and equipment provided.
All classes are taught by a tutor with over 30 years sewing experience. Group bookings and 1-2-1 tuition are available on request.
After completing this class, you have the option to join the Beginners Sewing Course to enhance your skills further.
