About Burn the Cork Theatre Co present Airswimming
Enjoy a drink and a drama in Paisley's intimate venue 'The Bungalow' as part of their Spree festival which shines a light on local talent. This play will have you laughing and crying as you get to experience the highs and lows of an incredible friendship grown from the darkest of circumstances.
Set in the 1920's, Airswimming is inspired by... "a _Miss Kitson and
a Miss Baker" who had been incarcerated in a hospital for the "criminally insane" and not released until the 1970's.
We join the women for their first meeting in the 1924 institution, but in a beat it’s a time of Moulinex blenders, Doris Day & their alter-egos, Dorph and Porph. With clever weaving in & out of eras, we experience their distortions in time perception & survival fantasies both simple & bizarre in nature.
A true story of friendship and... well, what would you do to survive 50 years of unjust imprisonment?
