Beginner’s Wild Mushroom Forage and Tasting

About Beginner’s Wild Mushroom Forage and Tasting

Finlaystone Forage and Flavour events combine foraging and wild food tasting to create a day of delightful discoveries within the wild woods of Finlaystone Estate, less than 30 minutes drive from Glasgow City Centre!

We meet at Finlaystone’s beautiful Old Laundry for a cuppa and an intro to the Kingdom of Fungi before venturing forth into stunning woodlands for a wild fungi foray, exploring the woods and developing the skills needed to find and identify wild mushrooms. We take our time, learning about folk traditions and sustainable foraging practices, adding curious and tasty treasures to our basket as we go.

Returning with a full basket to the cosy comfort of the Old Laundry it’s time to put on the kettle and get out the frying pan. Here we will cook, taste, rate and rank the finest of our finds, sampling a whole Kingdom of wild flavour!

But which mushroom will be crowned the Finlaystone Champion of Champignons? You decide!

Tickets:

Tickets £60 per person or £55 with early bird discount, subject to availability.

This event is suitable for participants aged 16 and over. Sampling of wild food is optional.

Tasting foraged food engages all of our senses and is a wonderfully gluttonous way to enhance your wild food learning. Please remember that your comfort and wellbeing is our top priority and tasting is always optional.

Please add a note to your booking detailing any food allergies or dietary requirements so that these can be accommodated.

Accessibility:

At all Curious in Nature events we walk or wheel at a gentle pace, like curious snails, stopping to notice and examine the fungi we find.

Finlaystone Estate has good paths but we may venture a little way off road here and there. Stout boots and weather-proof clothing are recommended.

If you have mobility or access concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me: emma@curious-in-nature.com so I can ensure your needs are met.
