Practicing Hope: Family-friendly Workshop

About Practicing Hope: Family-friendly Workshop

"If the world is to be healed through human efforts, I am convinced that it will be through ordinary people, people whose love for this world is even greater than their fear. " - Joanna Macy

Join us for a shared lunch (provided by Trail Grazers), followed by two parallel workshops: 'Practicing Hope' for adults and 'Nature Play' for children (5+), in adjacent rooms. Please note that the tickets for children are only bookable alongside an adult ticket.

Practicing Hope
Are you alarmed or feeling anxious about the climate and nature crisis? This is an experiential workshop based on the Work that Reconnects (WTR) by Joanna Macy; using practices that will help us reconnect our lives to our world in ways that are emotionally, spiritually, practically and ecologically sustainable. Our aim is to awaken us to our interconnection to all of life and inspire hope and action. The workshop offers an introduction to the Work That Reconnects and presents a flow of practical exercises and reflections, starting with gratitude.

Facilitators:

Sukhema (aka Larry Butler), a poet and a publisher (PlaySpace Publications) who teaches tai-chi in healthcare settings, leads therapeutic writing groups for Lapidus Scotland, and helped establish Towards Transition Glasgow. A registered facilitator with the Work That Reconnects Network.

Svenja Meyerricks works for RenCAN Hub. She is a human ecologist with a background as a researcher and community activist. She trained with Joanna Macy in the Work That Reconnects in 2013.

Nature Play
Nature Play with Good In The Wood, for kids aged 5+: games, crafts and stories for young people with experienced forest school practitioners Claire Mckee and Chris Holmes. **Please note that this is only for children who accompany adults attending the 'Practicing Hope' workshop**
