Based on 22 years of being inside, Ian recounts many of the colourful characters he met and the rich and unusual culture of prison life. He’ll also tell you about some of the many mistakes he made as a ‘junior’ governor!
Paisley and District u3a chair, Kathy O’Donnell said: “This promises to be a fascinating presentation to start the session. Our speaker’s talk is entitled: 'A Banker Behind Bars: From Loans to Lifers'.
"Nearly a decade ago, he took an interesting career break from the Scottish Prison Service. Ian Gunn went from dealing with those involved in crime to speaking on cruise ships about penal policy and criminology. I’m sure our members will want to question him about both these lines of work following his talk.”
This local u3a meets on the first Thursday each month at Paisley’s Salvation Army Hall in Mill Street (PA1 1ND). Refreshments are available between 1.30pm - 2pm prior to the start of the meeting.
Ian Gunn commented: “I’m really looking forward to entertaining Paisley and District u3a members with stories of my transition from banker to prison governor. Thankfully, most of us don’t get to see the inside of a prison, and my talk gives me the opportunity to let you peek over those imposing prison walls.”
