The Witches of Renfrewshire Skirlies Wed Oct 29 6.30pm. Book launch and talk by Brian Hannan. Tickets on eventbrite.
At the height of the Scottish Witch Hunts, seven people were tried for witchcraft in Paisley, 1697, and executed on the Gallow Green - round the corner from this venue - based on the testimony of a young girl Christian Shaw. Learn the full story of the investigation, the trial and the aftermath. You can buy a coffee and home-made cakes at Skirlies.
The cost of the ticket can be deducted from the price of the book (£12). The book has been reprinted by Paisley Publishing from the original 1809 text.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
