What is the Arran Challenge?
Day 1 -
07.30 Good luck breakfast at St Vincent's Hospice
08.00 Coach and ferry to Brodick
11.00 Begin scenic 42 mile cycle to Lochranza
17.00 Arrive at accomodation in Lochranza for celebration dinner
Day 2 -
09.00 Begin 14 mile cycle to the foot of Goatfell
11.30 Goatfell trek to the summit at 847m with stunning panoramic views
19.00 Ferry home returning to Johnstone by sunset
There is also the option to take part for either the Saturday cycle or the trek on the Sunday - for more inforamtion on this please contact the Fundraising team.
What is provided?
The trip is managed by Sport Ecosse Events www.sportecosseevents.co.uk and includes;
- All meals; breakfast, lunch & dinner on Saturday and Sunday
- Overnight accomodation at the SYHA in Lochranza
- All transport to and from St Vincent's Hosipce including bike and luggage
- First Aid cover throughout the event
- A Tour Leader plus Sport Ecosse Events support staff
- Support vehicle
- Public liability insurance
What do I need to do?
- Participants need to bring their own bike and walking boots for Goatfell; a suggested kit list will be provided however the required equipment is basic
- A registration fee of £50 (or £25 for early bird registration) is required on booking followed by minimum sponsorship of £300
- Training is essential; the more prepared you are the more you will enjoy it. Join the St Vincent's Hospice walking group or use the training schedules provided.
What support is there?
- A free St Vincent's Hospice t-shirt and fundraising pack including sponsorship forms will be sent on receipt of registration
- Further support materials such as banners, balloons, buckets etc can be provided at any time
- All participants are advised to set up a free online sponsorship page at www.justgiving.com.
