Singer, TV presenter and radio broadcaster Aled Jones MBE is set to tour the UK this Spring. A search is being launched to find local choirs from all ages, to join him at each venue.
Famed as the boy star that stole the hearts of the nation with his legendary performance of ‘Walking In The Air’, Aled is hoping to discover new talent from across the UK and will be inviting his favourite choirs to join him on stage at each performance for a once in a lifetime opportunity to perform with him.
2016 was an incredible year for Aled as he released hit album ‘One Voice’. Week on week it ascended the pop chart to a staggering no.3 position. It held the no.1 spot on the classical chart for 14 weeks and has now sold over 72,000 copies, gaining silver BPI status. In fact Aled sold more than former One Direction Star Zayn Malik during their first week of sales. Combined with the sales from his Christmas album ‘One Voice at Christmas’, Aled was the best selling Classical artist of 2016.
Aled said: "I'm really excited about hitting the road again and singing in these fabulous venues. I’m a firm believer that we have the greatest choral tradition here in the U.K. And I’m really excited to be sharing the stage and singing with some of our greatest choirs. I hope as many groups as possible send in their videos!"
Aled has his own Sunday morning radio show on Classic FM 7-10am and is due to return to his ITV1 show 'Weekend' every Saturday and Sunday morning as well as being a regular on BBC One on Songs of Praise and a new series of 'Going Back, Giving Back'.
The tour is set to visit Paisley Abbey on Saturday 6th May.
How to enter:
Choirs that wish to enter are to send a short video of their choir to aledchoir@carouselpr.com along with a brief description outlining why they should be the chosen choir. Choirs must state where they are based and highlight the venue in which they are applying for. It’s requested that videos are either sent in as a downloadable link or as link to YouTube etc. Please do not send entries as an attachment and ensure full contact details are provided (name, email, phone number and any further supporting links). Choirs wishing to apply must be based within a 20 mile radius to the venue that they are applying for. Maximum application word count is capped at 400 words. Entries must be sent by an adult aged 18 or over.
One choir for each venue will be selected. The judges decision is final. The prize is the opportunity to support Aled Jones at the given venue. Travel expenses for the winning choir are not on offer. Tickets beyond choir personnel are not available. If selected choirs include minors then at least x3 responsible adults (teachers, parents or guardians) must accompany the choir on the night of the performance.
Entrance is open now and will close Monday 27th March at 12 noon.
The winner for each venue will be announced Friday 31th March 2017.
