Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, the largest Scottish health charity supporting people with chest, heart and stroke conditions to live their lives to the full, is calling for people in the local community to become Collection Can Volunteers to help raise vital funds.
1 in 5 people in Scotland are living with a chest, heart or stroke condition – including Long Covid. Many of these people experience fear, isolation and loneliness, and struggle to cope with the impact of their health condition on their everyday lives.
The charity is looking for people to volunteer their time and place collection cans in shops, local businesses and community spaces to help raise awareness and funds to make sure people with chest, heart and stroke conditions are getting the support they need when they leave hospital.
All the funds raised through the collection cans will go towards funding the charity’s Hospital to Home services which are a nationwide network of local support groups, nurses and one-to-one support teams which support people and their families throughout their recovery.
Ruth Zokas, Volunteering Development Lead at Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, said: “This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in your local community.
“If you enjoy meeting and talking to new people and building connections in your community then this could be the perfect volunteer role for you!
“All money raised in Scotland stays in Scotland. By volunteering with us, you’ll be helping people across the country get the support they really need.”
If you’re interested in becoming a Collection Can Volunteer with Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, you can apply via their website by clicking here.
Minimum age for the Collection Can Volunteer Role is 18 years.
