The team at the centre have set up a charity clothes bank at their Festival of Fashion Food and Fun, which runs every day this month.
People are being encouraged to bring along high-quality pre-loved adult, children and baby clothes that can be sold in the CHAS (Children’s Hospices Across Scotland) shops.
All the profits from the CHAS shops go towards offering a full family support service for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions.
There are several clothes bank collection boxes within the Braehead festival site in the mall’s central atrium.
The Summer Festival has a wide variety of free activities to keep youngsters entertained during the school holidays between 11am and 4pm every day until July 30.
Just some of the events taking place include arts and crafts, decorating cupcakes, making your own micro garden using old egg boxes, playing lawn games like cornhole, limbo, hoopla, skittles and Connect Four, as well as colouring-in, dressing up and photo opportunities.
Youngsters can also help create a mini town by making a model of their own house, street or favourite landmark with recycled cardboard at home, bringing it along to Braehead to add to our cardboard landscape. And there will be cardboard available at the Braehead Festival site to use to create a piece of the landscape.
Mairead McLeod, from CHAS said: “We are very grateful to Braehead shopping centre for their support, which will help us continue our work caring for children with life-shortening conditions and their families both locally and across Scotland.”
Emma McDougall, Braehead’s marketing manager said: “Everyone is having lots of fun at our Summer Festival and we thought it would be nice to give folks the chance to do a good deed at the same time by donating to the clothes bank.
“CHAS do a wonderful job and the money raised from the sale of the donated clothing will be put to good use by making sure that no matter how short a time families have together, it’s a time filled with happiness and fun.”
