Welcoming Glaswegians at the opening ceremony was Jack Folan (10), the pint-sized bagpiper, alongside IRN-BRU Carnival lead organiser, Margaret Cowan and the Irn-Bru Can Man.
Open until 14th January, the first day of the Carnival was also attended by Scotland’s Strongest Man and Renaissance Care elderly residents who tried out the rides and stalls which are included in the price of a ticket.
New this year at the Carnival is the Extreme Ice Blast, the Air Ride and the Super Trooper. Standard entry tickets are available from £19.50 with discounts available for groups, concessions and Young Scot card holders, and kids under three go free. Princess & Superhero day
Running on Wednesday 27th December and Sunday 7th January these popular theme days are an absolute must for families. As well as enjoying all the fun and action of the rides and stalls, kids will be overjoyed to meet their favourite princess or superhero. What’s more if they come dressed as their favourite character, they get a free ride token.
Unicorn Experience
Make the Christmas period even more magical with a trip to the Carnival on Sunday 31st December, where attendees will have the chance to meet two cute unicorns as they welcome families on the main SEC concourse.
Autism Friendly
Back by popular demand the autism friendly session runs from 11am-2pm on Sunday 31st December. This session is perfect for those with autism and sensory processing disorders allowing them to enjoy the rides with shorter queues and less crowds. The lights in the main hall will be on, the music turned off or very low and the rides going a little slower. You can find out more here.
Family photographer
Capture those wonderful memories on Wednesday 3rd January as our in-house family photographer tours the halls taking free snaps of families having fun with a digital image available as a free keepsake.
Over 16s session
A first for the IRN-BRU Carnival, this adults only session on Thursday 11th January from 4pm-9pm, features an exclusive DJ set from DJ Dominique, who will be performing from 5:30pm – 6:15pm. As well as the usual thrilling rides there will be extra strobe lighting and banging tracks to make it an all-round brilliant evening.
Ginger Day
It’s National Kiss a Ginger day on Friday 12th January so to celebrate all Scottish red heads we’re giving an extra ride token to anyone attending with hair the colour of our beloved IRN-BRU.
