Upholstery Workshop – Give New Life to Your Favourite Chair
In our two-day upholstery workshop, we will guide you step by step through the process of transforming an old chair into a beautifully restored piece you can be proud of.
If you have a favourite chair at home, you are very welcome to bring it along.
Please check your chair with us beforehand so we can confirm that your project is suitable to complete over the weekend.
During the workshop, we will demonstrate how to restore a French antique-style chair, similar to the pieces you may have seen on our Facebook page. The techniques shown can be applied to other suitable chairs too.
Don’t have a chair?
No problem. You are welcome to visit our warehouse in advance or on the day to purchase a chair from us.
We carry a variety of chairs, with the average price around £40.
Materials & preparation:
We recommend purchasing your upholstery fabric well in advance of the workshop.
• Etsy has a great selection of upholstery fabrics
• Or visit your local haberdashery or fabric store
We recommend:
• At least 2 metres of fabric
• More fabric if you plan to use contrasting materials
• Any braid or trim should also be purchased in advance to ensure it matches your fabric.
Paint:
We provide black and white paint for your chair.
If you would like another colour, please bring your own.
We recommend using:
• A water-based furniture paint
• Ideally one that already includes varnish, so it dries in time.
Workshop schedule:
Day One: Strip and paint your chair
Day Two: Upholster, add fabric and braid/trim
This workshop is suitable for beginners and is relaxed, friendly, and hands-on — perfect if you love interiors, upcycling, or learning a new skill.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
