Award-winning violinist and BBC broadcaster Seonaid Aitken pays tribute to her French Jazz violin hero Stéphane Grappelli with an evening of music at the McKillop Institute in Lochwinnoch!
About Grappelli Night with the Seonaid Aitken Quintet
The ‘sizzling violinist' and her piano quintet, made up of some of Scotland’s top jazz musicians, will celebrate Grappelli’s 60+ year career with swingin’ tunes from his solo repertoire such as ‘Sweet Georgia Brown’, ‘Ol’ Man River’ and ‘It Don’t Mean A Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing)’ and will include material from his Quintette du Hot Club de France days with Django Reinhardt and his legendary duets with Classical violin virtuoso Yehudi Menuhin.
Daniel Drever is a guitarist and composer from Glasgow, working with bands and songwriters as a guitarist and composing music for theatre shows and other media. As an active soloist, Daniel regularly performs his guitar arrangements of folk, jazz, classical, film and game soundtracks to a wide audience across Scotland.
