Lil is guest speaker at a free monthly event run by Paisley and District u3a. She will share how art became part of her life. Lil also explains how west of Scotland textiles, including the iconic Paisley pattern, continue to inspire her work.
The meeting begins at 2pm in the Salvation Army Hall in Mill Street (PA1 1ND). People can view one particular local painting, and have a chat over refreshments from 1.30pm.
Lil Brookes said: “My short illustrated talk, ‘Patterns, Pandemic and Place In Time’ outlines where my creative inspirations come from. As a social historian, the events which have shaped the heritage landscape of Paisley feature strongly in my artwork. I’ll also cover how the impact of the pandemic then led me to evolve new pieces of art.”
u3a chair, Kathy O’Donnell said: “Many artists find inspiration from the times they live in and the world around them. I’m sure Lil Brookes will put us in the picture about why Paisley and the west of Scotland continue to be a muse for her ideas and commissions.”
