Bishopton Rugby Club is delighted to announce it will continue to provide free rugby to children and young people from P1 to U18, with the new season kicking off with a Junior Registration Day on Sunday, August 17th.
The club, based at Holmpark, is committed to removing financial barriers to sports participation and believes that every child should have the opportunity to experience the benefits of rugby. By offering free access to the sport, Bishopton Rugby Club aims to foster physical fitness, teamwork, and confidence in children throughout the local and surrounding areas.
Club President, Andrew Jackson, had this to say “Bishopton Rugby club has offered free rugby to all children and youths from P1 to U18s since we started our Junior section 16 years ago. We see making Rugby accessible and inclusive, as part of our club values. We were the second club in Scotland to get the SRU Positive Coaching award and believe any player can be great, if given the opportunity, the encouragement and support”.
Director of Rugby, Carl Bates, also commented “We’re incredibly proud to offer free junior rugby at Bishopton. This is only possible thanks to our incredible sponsors and volunteers who believe, like us, that rugby is more than just a sport — it’s a chance for children to build lifelong skills, like teamwork, resilience, and confidence, all whilst having fun and staying active. By removing financial barriers, we’re making rugby accessible to every child in our community.”
The Junior Registration Day will take place at Holmpark on Sunday, August 17th, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, where new and returning players can sign up for the season. To celebrate the start of the new season, a free Family Fun Day will be held for all registered junior players and their families on Sunday, August 24th.
Bishopton Rugby Club encourages all children and their families, regardless of experience or ability, to come along and join the club. The club's inclusive approach ensures that there is a place for everyone to learn, play, and grow.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
