On this dressmaking course, you will cover all the skills required to create your first garment and make your very own made to measure Pyjama bottoms (with pockets). You will be taken step by step through the pattern from cutting out to hemming. No experience of dressmaking required but you do need to be able to use a sewing machine.
You will learn how to:
• Choose your correct size
• Pin and cut out accurately
• Understand Pattern symbols
• Transfer pattern symbols onto fabric
• Form a casing and insert elastic
• Seam finishings and hemming techniques
What to bring:
You will need to bring your own choice of fabric which will be discussed on booking. A commercial pattern will be provided for you which you can take home and use over and over. The pattern comes in a range of sizes (hip sizes 31-49 inches).
Duration:
3.5 hours x 2 lessons.
All classes are taught by a tutor with over 30 years sewing experience. Group bookings and 1-2-1 tuition are available on request.
Thimbleberry Sewing is a sewing and crafting venue based in Elderslie. A bright and spacious studio where you can relax and create.
